The window to soul sculpture wasn’t necessarily hard to do but it was definitely hard to plan and required a lot of thought. I had to create 6 symbols and use 20 words that represented me. As I first started planning it was difficult but as I got more words and created more symbols it started to get easier. I then realized a few key points in creating symbols and choosing words. I should start off with things that I like and my characteristics. Things started to come to my mind really fast and I was on the right track towards creating a beautiful piece of artwork.
In this project I used foam boards to create my 3D symbols. I printed 20 words from my computer and glued them to the symbols. For the color of the symbols I used spray paint. The spray paint really had a special effect on the Symbols. It gives the viewer a feeling where they are confused in whether the black is the background or the white is the background. The confusion leads to curious and interesting thoughts about my sculpture. I used black for the black ground and spray-painted white spots on top to represent the two sides of a person. The white representing the Honest, caring, and ethical side of a person. The black representing the Selfishness, cruel, and mean side of a person.
The passion I had for this project was that I could express myself to everyone in a different way and share thoughts amongst the people that view my painting in a special connection. The main theme for my sculpture is that everybody has 2 sides, a good and bad side, nobody is perfect. Perfect defines flawless and that is something that no human being can achieve.
