First step is to take the body to a tent known as Ibu or The place of purification. Then the Embalmers wash the body with good smelling palm wine and rinse it with water from the Nile.
Second step one of the men make a slit on the left side of the body and remove most of the internal organs like the liver, lungs, intestines, and stomach. This is really important because the organs are the first thing to decompose. To prevent this you have to wash and pack the organs in natron salt this salt will dry the organs. The egyptians didn’t take the heart out because it is the center of intelligence and feeling and they will need this in the afterlife. When they take the brain out they stick a thin long hook up your nose and chisel the brain out (yuck).
Third step Now they pack the body will natron salt and dry out the organs and moisture in the body this took about 40 days.
Fourth step After the body is dried out then you would wash the body with water from the Nile and rub the body with oils to keep the body elastic.
Fifth step The dried organs are taken out of the canopic jars and rapped in linen and returned into the body. The body is stuffed with dry materials such as leafs and sawdust.
Sixth step Finally the body is covered with good smelling oils again and now the body is ready to be wrapped in linen
