Who is Banksy?
Banksy is an anonymous British graffiti artist. However, he’s not the normal graffiti artist. Banksy is anonymous because he doesn’t want any of the credit for his famous work. Almost all of Banksy’s stencils use irony to portray his feelings about different issues, which is how he relates to our project. Another way he relates to our project is because his work is done on the streets, and lets everyone see his work. One of my favorite pieces of Banksy’s artwork is below:
My global issue is infectious diseases. The group that I was in decided to focus on AIDs, since it’s one of the most common diseases. The symbols I used are a broken health sign that are split apart with an aids ribbon in between. Below is a picture of my project:
My interpretation of my artwork is that the health sign isn’t supposed to be split apart. However, the AIDs ribbon has managed to do so. This shows that AIDs is hazardous to your health and that you aren’t healthy if you have AIDs. It also shows that AIDs changes your life, and that it will never be the same again.
