My dream house has a lot of outdoor space with many activities to do. Such as swimming while watching T.V., watching a movie, or playing soccer. My inspiration for my dream house was fun. I always like to have lots of excitement in and around my house. If I was to build a dream house anywhere in the world it would be in my home town in Coronado, San Diego on the beach. This would make my dream house even better, because I’ll be with my friends and on the BEACH!

I am doing this poem for humanities to show what I know about the book Ramose and the Tomb Robbers

Ramose is an apprentice scribe at the making of the pyramid made of alabaster. But he is also a prince that is pretending to be dead because of his step mom.

A lot of the pyramid workers died in the big flood.

Mery is the name of Karoyas, Ramoses slave, new cat.

Onward the survivors go to make their way to their new work site in Thebes.

Stopping for the night in Tombos made it possible for Ramose, Hapu, and Karoya to sneak away to Ramoses ill father. His father happens to be the Pharaoh.

Eventually they found a boat going towards Memphis. But after a couple of days the boat men wanted more trade, so they left them in a small village.

Then another they found another boat. The men on this boat were asking strange questions. They were the tomb robbers, but Ramose didn’t know that.

Hori was the name of the captain. Once in a while he would grimlyglare at Ramose, Hapu, and Karoya.

Every couple days the boat was moored so they could find more food.

However one night they slept on the shore not on the boat, and Ramose was captured by the tomb robbers.

In about two days they would go inside the tomb, and steal the treasure.

Down they went gouging whatever was in their path.

Inek, one of the robbers, and Ramose were the only ones to find the treasure, because Ramose had the clues on how to get to the tomb.

Now that they found the treasure, they emergedof the hole. They found jewels and amulets.

Gagged around the mouth was what Ramose saw was Hapu. He was sitting in the corner snivelling.

Pretending to be a dead prince was hard when the villagers scornfully came near and threatened him for robbing a tomb.

Ramose then saw the royal boat with all the royal members looking lavish. He even saw his father and sister.

Instead of waiting for the villagers to continue yelling at him Ramose, Hapu, Karoya, and Mery crossed the river to chase the boat.

Now they were back on their way to Thebes to find the royal boat with his father.

Creeping through the desert where no one could see them was a good idea.

Eventually they will find his father, or will they.

Chinese Characters

My Reflection

1. Describe the purpose of the project and your reflection on this project.

We did this project to get familiar with our new vocabulary words. I think that I did O.K with this project.

2. Describe the another piece of work and the reasons you choose it.

I chose my character booklet. We do at least four pages a day in class to learn how to write characters, even though we can recognize them.

3. What’s your SMART goal for the last quarter of the year?

My SMART goal for chinese is to write more chinese characters in my work. This will help me learn more characters.

4. What are things that could prevent you from achieving your goal.

Rushing on my work just to get it done might make me not write characters.
5. What strategies you will use and what actions you will take to accomplish your goal.

To take my time to do my work if I need to to write as many characters as possible.

I have learned these scales from MEMORY!: (concert pitch)

My Favorite piece this year is:

Jazz Jubilee or Saxophonic Boogie

Because:

They have a jazzy rhythm

My band goal for the final quarter of the year is:

Is to work harder on memorizing all the scales we’ve learned.

Dear Toreg,                                                                                                      2/23/10

I have reached my clan safely and you would never believe what my clan expressed about the spear-thrower. They were all so thrilled when they found out that Seelan was still alive.

Seeing Mora’s face when I told her that her beloved brother, Seelan, is still alive she gave me a huge hug. When she finally let go I could see tiny tear drops of joy streaming down her face. After Mora had stopped crying, she started to blurt out all kinds of questions about Seelan, the spear-thrower, and your expertise on using the spear-thrower.

When the hunters of my clan witnessed the spear-thrower in action they clapped and cheered while they bounced around like maniacs. They wanted to thank you for teaching me, and for Seelan for making it. Now they all want one exactly like mine.

Since my return, my relationship with Kenok is completely different. It all started in the forest when I was on the way back to my clan, he found me hiking home. We talked all about how the dagger-tooth cat was a real creature. It’s weird, but he actually feels like my uncle. Kenok also treats me more like a man now, not like a little boy that he has to look after.

All in all, everything is going very well. My man marks don’t hurt as much now. Thanks to you and Seelan, I am welcomed as a hunter and a carver. I’m also going to make all the hunters of my clan a spear-thrower. But the very special one with a dagger-tooth cat is just for Kenok. I hope I can come visit again soon.

                                                                                                Sincerely Yours,

                                                                                                                           Dar

This is my reflection for humanities.

Writing

Some of my challenges in writing are sentence fluency and word choice. Those categories are the ones that usually bring my writing grade down, but I do think that I have improved on fluency and word choice a little bit. Areas that I really improved on are  conventions and the writing process.  Since the beginning of the year I have been doing fairly well in organization. This has helped me a lot in my writing to make the story flow easier. As a writer I know that if I keep learning I will get better.

Reading

In the beginning of the year I mostly read realistic fiction and just fiction. I know that I have improved on my reading by how much more genres I have read. I can also tell that I’ve improved by how much bigger the books that I have read are. As a reader I know that to improve my reading, I have to read more often. My AR goal for the fourth quarter is to get over 30 points.

Social Studies

My understanding of social studies has expanded because I now know all about ancient Mesopotamia, neolithic and paleolithic eras, and so much more. Some things that I have learned how to do from learning about Mesopotamia is how to use a notes website called noodle tools, and how to make a document in pages. A skill that I need to work on is changing text into a well thought out paragraph. My best work in social studies is my Mesopotamia project.
