Remember the Titans
The enduring understanding I am going to explain on how it was exemplified throughout the movie is Social change begins with an individual or small group. Remember the Titans was a movie about How a black man took over a high school football team. He was qualified. The ex head coach began looking for a new job but decided against that because every player that he had coached refused to play for the black man who took their coaches job. On the other hand, the other black kids in the neighbor hood were looking forward to playing for him. They began at football camp. Every white kids hated every black kid, as every black kid hated every white kid. They were forced to room with each other as it would be good bonding. one white boy, and one black boy. If the chose to not respect each other for their race then the coach, Boone, would force them to scrimmage even more everyday, waking up at 3 AM and sleeping at 11 PM.
The kids learned to respect each other, Bertier the captain of the team saw no difference between an African- American or a white man. What mattered what was inside them, not their outside. After returning from camp, back home, their was turmoil. People protested saying black people shouldn’t be able to play on the Titans. It all changed, after the titans first few games, they worked together and never gave up, which led to wins. Just one high school football team turned the whole city, then state and even more people thinking that being white or black didn’t matter. This movie was based on a true story. I’m sure it changed the way many people felt about African- Americans.
