Sunday, April 13th, 2008

Quote 1: “How’d you like that haircut to begin just below the neck?” Chapter 1, pg.

This was a death threat made by a Soc to Ponyboy. He had just walked out of the movie theater and was on his way home, when he was jumped by a red corvair. Five Socs jumped out of the corvair. They proceded to surround him and make the threat. It meant “do you want to die.”

Quote 2: “And you can’t win against them no matter how hard you try, because they’ve got all the breaks and even whipping them isn’t going to change that fact.” Ch. 1, pg. 11

He didn’t care if anyone loved him or not

Quote 12: “This church gave me a kind of creepy feeling. What do you call it? Premonition?” Chapter 4, pg. 67

When Ponyboy and Johnny walked into the church they felt a creepy feeling, Premonition. They were hiding out here so the police wouldn’t find them, because Johnny was on  the run for murder.

Quote 22: “I wouldn’t mind it so much if there wasn’t so much stuff I ain’t done yet and so many things I ain’t seen. It’s not fair.” Chapter 8, pg. 121

This was Johnny’s complaint. He was going to die and he realized that he wanted to do more in his life than what he had. He thought that it wasn’t fair

The beatles

The Beatles were a band in the 60s. One of their most famous songs was yellow submarine. They were very important to the 60s because they were what people where listening to, defining that generation.

\

JFK Assassination

The assassination of John F Kennedy was a blow to the 60s. It showed that times were changing and that presidents weren’t as loved as they were before. It also showed that the president’s previous guard had to step their security up a notch, because the incident could easily repeat itself

The Beatles were imp

Nothing Gold Can Stay

Sunday, April 6th, 2008

This poem shows that nothing can stay gold, or perfect. In the beginning of life all was perfect, but it is impossible to keep perfection, like trying to stop the sun rising, corruption destroys in the  end. Noting can stay perfect foreveer. This poem is fairly pessimistic. It tells that perfection,or gold, is a form that nothing can truly hold forever. But their is one pinprick of light in the void of darkness. This poem tells that perfection is attainable, the poet obviously believed this.

So for a time you can hold perfection but it becomes harder to hold like, smoke as he warning goes, nothing gold can stay…

King Arthur Writing Activity

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

After reading an excerpt from a book on King Arthur, we were asked to either make a story or a ballad on an enchanted weapon or object given to our original character. Since I try to avoid lots of long writing, and tend to stretch a story out, I chose to do a ballad. This is it so far:

Once upon an olden time,

there was a flame that was divine

To burn forever was its cause,

Always subjected to the kingdoms awe

This fire so good, so holy and bright

Helped the kingdom in its fight

against the evil fiends of dark,

their evil reduced to but a spark

But then against the kingdoms cause

The fiends began to strike once more

Without a single moments pause

The Darkness began the Only Great war

Darkness forever closer comes

Only one shall never run

The kingdom protector of the flame

Shall fail its quest, t’was all in vain

The blaze shall dwindle small & weak

Another protector it does seek

Darkness forever closer comes

The one true hero is nearly here

This fire once born from good and light

Was corrupted by malice, rage and spite

Of evil known amongst few men

Except the one who entered the archfiends den

Darkness rules this land once good

A hero has come to destroy the bad

To claim the flame long corrupted & had

Lost to darkness since the war started

The flame is touched the fiends departed

Darkness burned by rays of light

Shall never come again despite

The power of the archfiends roar

They shall not battle forever more

The flame now kept by its protector

Forever safe forever strong

Shall burn away the armys of darkness

Land the duo shall conquer…

Writers Block should be abolished from this world.

Why?

Simply because it is the most diabolical, spiteful, malicious, atrocious, barbaric, fiendish, annoying, irritating, aggravating, distressful, exasperating, irksome, painful, provoking, troublesome, vexing object to ever exist in this world.

Ballad Work

Those whose heritage does declare                                                                                             that they shall live in a house that’s fair                                                                                      above all other to be saw,                                                                                                               all that see shall gasp in awe.

A Fire is built for spite to build                                                                                                  against the rules of king and crown                                                                                             This Malicious Guild,                                                                                                                  Seeks the country to fall down

A Doom is sealed, the fire burn bright                                                                                           A War shall come from this sparse spite

Those whose heritage does so state

That they can live in a house of stone

A target of war that enemies hate

A siege of battle their house is prone

Their doom is sealed the fire burn bright

Siege don’t last against the height

A Lord of strength a lord of power

With anger enough to undo the tower

Against the will of the king

Pain and destruction he will bring

A Doom Is sealed the fire burn bright

This siege will last 1000 nights

The battle is long is cold is strong

Time to undo the enemy’s strength

This siege has lasted far too long

For any measurement, any length

A Doom is sealed the fire burn bright

This siege will end, the world is bright

The bodies are dead,

Their malice, their spite long lost

Betrayed instead

For comrades long lost to the frost

Their doom is done the fire can dim

Lost in malice, their souls begin

To emerge from darkness, they have seen the grim

Chivalry: Its not dead (not quite)

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

I think these rules of chivalry are still necessary today.

1) Thou shalt never lie, and shall remain faithful to thy pledged word.

Lying is still a bad thing to do in modern times and it can end up with varying results. A broken word can also cause much pain and suffering so it is best to be avoided. It’s still important to tell the truth.

2) Always maintain ones principals

To maintain ones principles is to do what you think is right. People still admire others who can follow their heart in times of problem or stress.

3) Avoid cheating.

In a game of cards, you’re first impulse when you pick up you’re hand ISN’T to cheat( if it is, go see someone about it), its a belief, something unspoken but constantly present.

4) Never abandon a friend, ally, or noble cause.

Its an unspoken (or spoken for the matter) rule for someone who has committed to something to follow it to the end.The same applies for friends, you don’t just abandon them. Like you dont dessert an ally

Newspaper Article: Mark Reflection

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

My mark for the Scipio Article was very fair and I was happy with it. I believe that Mr.Power marked it very fairly

and that I deserved the mark that I got. I should have wworked more on the presentation of the article.
