Hello world!
June 12th, 2009 by grace01pd2016End of the School Year!
June 3rd, 2009 by grace01pd2016It is almost the end of the school year. I am happy because I am moving back to the USA not long after school ends! Are you happy that it is almost the end of the school year?
Summer Cleaning!
June 3rd, 2009 by grace01pd2016Today, we cleaned out our desks, our cubbies, and took our notebooks home. We have cleaned out everything that was ours. Our classroom is cleaner than before. It feels weird not to have so much stuff in our desks, and to have taken it all home is exciting. We are summer cleaning!
Amos’ Birthday
May 26th, 2009 by grace01pd2016Monday was my brother’s birthday, and he was so excited that it was his birthday. After school, he did not want to do his homework. I think that he was thrilled he was finally turning 9. We had pancakes for dinner. It was awesome!
New Salamander!
May 1st, 2009 by grace01pd2016Today, my family and I went to the Flower Market, and we bought a lot of pots. We bought 4, I think. One was yellow, another one was rectangular shaped, the third one was shaped like a seashell, and the last one was an oval-shaped pot. We also bought three fish, and a salamander. My brother got the salamander, and named him Fred. The salamander has an orange belly with black spots. He also got a goldfish and he named it Bob. I got two fish, but I have not named them yet. I was amazed when my mom and dad let Amos get a salamander.
Poetry
April 28th, 2009 by grace01pd2016We have been focusing on diamantes, haikus, definition poems, and senses poems. Here are some of the haikus I wrote during our poetry unit.
Haikus:
#1 blooming through the earth
petals surrounding the stem
making colors grow
#2 leaves shaking in wind
with bark as smooth as a stone
growing straight up tall
We wrote some other poems too, but I put my haikus on my blog because I think haikus are very fun to write. Haikus are my favorite poems, as well.
Ridley Pearson
April 25th, 2009 by grace01pd2016Ridley Pearson visited SAS, and he talked to the fifth grade about how he writes books, and what the writer has to do to make it seem like the story is real. I have read a lot of his books, and I think that he is a great author. I am glad that he could come to our school and visit. We also did a thing where we wrote 5 sentences about a person on the screen that he had pictures of. I wrote about Hillary. I think that Ridley Pearson is a great author, and that he works hard. I am glad that the fifth grade got to talk to him.
Spring Fling
April 25th, 2009 by grace01pd2016We had the Spring Fling on Thursday. It was really fun. We got to do four different stations, and they were all different activities. I was in the Franklin group. The first activity we did was Deserted Island. The object of the game was to convince your group that you should stay on the island. We were appointed different people, and I was a 7 year old girl with a disability. I got off the island 3rd. The 12 year old boy was the last person on the island. We also did an activity where we had a bucket with holes in the sides, and we had to clog up the holes with pipe-cleaners, and fill the bucket with water. We got to the top of that bucket, and then we took the bottle with yellow liquid from the top. When we got to the final bucket, we could not use pipe-cleaners to plug up the holes. We had to use our bodies. We did not succeed in filling that bottle to the top. There was a station where there were 5 activities that we had to do. We were split into 5 groups. The first one I did was where we were blindfolded, and then you had a cone in front of you, and you had to get back to that cone while you were blindfolded. The second one was where we had to piggyback somebody over to the other side. We all had to get over to the other side. The third one was where we had to grab each others arms, and get up off the ground without using our hands. At first, we did partners of 2 people, and then girls, and boys, an then we did it all together in one group. We came up with a good strategy. Another activity that we did was we were on a sheet, and it was a shrinking island, and we all had to be on it, and it kept shrinking in half until everybody could not fit on it. The last one at that station was where we had to touch a can, but we could not touch each-other. We succeeded, and then we played Human Knot. It was very fun. The last place we went to, we played something like Capture the Treasure, except that we had to get the colored balls from the other team. I thought that all in all, it was a pretty good day, and I am glad that I got to go to the Spring Fling.
Screen Free Week
April 21st, 2009 by grace01pd2016Yesterday was the first day of screen free week. I have not watched TV or done anything involved with electronics for the earlier part of the week. I am sure that I can finish screen free week successfully. My brother does not want to do screen free week because he really like his DS. I am telling him that he should do the screen free week because it will be god for him. Are you doing the screen free week?
Dad Left
April 21st, 2009 by grace01pd2016Today, while I was at school, my dad left for the USA… I am sad because my mom just got back, and my dad has to go right after my mom got back. Well, at least we hope to find, and buy a house. My mom has already looked, but my dad might buy one (I am not sure). My dad will be gone for a week. I am also mad because he has to leave mainly every month to go to the USA anyways because he has a job there. Well, I hope that the next week passes quickly, so that my dad will be home soon.
