Monday – For 20 minutes. I put the metronome on 80, and practiced “Theme.” I realized that I had a mistake, and I tried to fix it, and I succeeded.
Tuesday – 25 minutes. With the metronome on 76, I played the Bb, Eb, Ab and Db major scales in scale rhythm.. I switched the metronome to 100 and played “Twin City March.” I had troubles where it turned to a C#. There is no B#, so with help from Olivia, I found out that its just a normal B. Its sounds right too.
Thursday – 30 minutes. I played the Bb, Eb, Ab, and Db major scales in half notes, quarter notes, and in scale rhythm with the metronome at 76. I then worked on “Theme” with the metronome at 80.
Friday – 5 minutes. I really didn’t have much time, but before the musical, I went to my house for a quick practice with the Bb, Eb, Ab, and Db major scales with the metronome at 76.
I didn’t seem to have much time to practice this week, because of floor hockey, swim practice, and the swim meet yesterday. I practiced for a bit, but not so much so that after a long day of school and swim practice or floor hockey practice I wouldn’t be so worn out.
Tuesday – 10 mins. Worked on scales and worked on theme
Friday – 30 mins. Worked on scales, theme, and jasmine flower.
Sunday – 20 mins. Worked on scales, theme. and live life by Crush 40. A sweet piece that can be played on flute.
Looking out across the night-time
The city winks a sleepless eye
Hear her voice shake my window
Sweet seducing sighs
Get me out into the night-time
Four walls won’t hold me tonight
If this town is just an apple
Then let me take a bite
If they say, why, why? Tell ‘em that is human nature
Why, why does he do me that way?
If they say, why, why? Tell ‘em that is human nature
Why, why does he do me that way?
Reaching out to touch a stranger
Electric eyes are everywhere
See that girl, she knows I’m watching
She likes the way I stare
If they say, why, why? Tell ‘em that is human nature
Why, why does he do me that way?
If they say, why, why? Tell ‘em that is human nature
Why, why does he do me that way?
I like livin’ this way, I like lovin’ this way
Looking out across the morning
The city’s heart begins to beat
Reaching out, I touch her shoulder
I’m dreaming of the street
If they say, why, why? Tell ‘em that is human nature
Why, why does he do me that way?
If they say, why, why? Ooh, tell ‘em
Why, why does he do me that way?
If they say, why, why? Cha cha cha
Why, why does he do me that way?
If they say why, why, why? Ooh, tell ‘em
Why, why does he do me that way?
If they say, why, why? Ooh, tell ‘em
Why, why does he do me that way?
If they say, why, why? Da da da
Why, why does he do me that way?
I like livin’ this way
I called my blog human nature, after the song called: “Human Nature” by Michael Jackson. I really like this song. Some parts of the song relate to something in real life. I just love the melody and everything about this song!
This week I practiced for 100 minutes. I began with long tones from the B flat major scale. Then, I worked on my scales as a warm up. After going through the scales around five times each, I went on to working on “Theme”. I went through the hole piece without stopping, but then afterwards, went back to see where I had made mistakes. After correcting and retrying for around 10-15 minutes, I gave myself a cool down, by doing the scales up and down one time each, sort of like the playing test.
Thursday – 20 mins. Worked on major scales in half notes, quarter notes, and scale rhythm for 10 mins. Worked on “Theme” for 10 minutes. Cool down of scales.
Friday – 25 mins. Worked on major scales for 10 mins. Practiced “Theme” for 15 mins. Cool down of scales.
Saturday – 35 mins. Worked on major scales for 10 mins. Practiced “Theme” for 15 mins. Tried playing old pieces from 5th grade, like “Popcorn Prelude” and “Jasmine Flower” for 10 mins.
Monday – 20 min. Worked on major scales for 10 mins. Did playing test, and failed a lot. Finally, succeeding in the playing test. Playing test took 10 mins.
Total: 100
Thats basically what I did for my practice this week.
