Explain what you liked most about the project and why.

I liked coming up with the idea and building it because my idea is for gamers, (people who play X-BOX, PS2, things like that) I might be able to use it later on because video games are really fun. The building process was also really great like for example the spray painting.

Summarize what you found most difficult or challenging about this project and why.

At the convention saying my pitch, (changeable speech) over and over again was very hard because it was one group after the other. At first we were all really bored but later we got busy talking.

Describe the problems that you encountered throughout this project.

I had trouble while building because I encountered a problem. The leg rest wouldn’t stand up so we made a support. While spray-painting we almost ran out of paint.

I tested the invention to see if it is comfy while playing. Me It was. I was playing, or at least trying to, and found the experience more comfortable than sitting in a normal chair. It was a good time. I’m commenting myself.
Tested to see if the drink holder worked properly and if the drink stayed upright or if it will fall. My little brother Bevan. I gave Bevan a glass of water with a long straw and told him to finish it while rocking on the chair. He did. Bevan said it was great. I was comfy, the drink reached his mouth. (Though he said he was already full)
We tested to see if the drink-holder worked. (the drink stayed in place) Me The drink-holder worked. Though you have to sit down before you put the drink on or else it will spill. No comments
I tested to see if the box was useful. (storing things, throwing away, etc.) Me This proved to be useful because after doing previous tests I found no place to put my PSP so then I put it in the box. No comments

Here is the logo I designed for my invention in the Invention Convention. I imagine I will be using it for the marketing poster that is necessary for the convention. I designed it here. The site is a good one if you want to make a logo. You don’t have to pay unless you’re buying it.

Today, my dad and I made the prototype that I was going to bring into school. I needed my dad’s help because of the blade used to cut through the cardboard. I might have accidentally cut myself. What we made first was the main part, the seat of the chair, the back-rest and the leg-rest. Those were all connected. To make that, all we did was cut two straight lines through the cardboard and then bended in the appropriate places to make it look like a real chair. Well actually it’s a rocking chair. Anyways, after the main part we made the legs, for the rocking chair it was curved so it could rock, naturally. Then I created the arm-rest. This part was a bit difficult because we had to tape it to the side of the chair but we got that through. Finally, I made the tray. All we had to do here was to take a piece of cardboard, cut a small hole in the top right-hand corner, and fold thrice equally! Now we were done.

Today, my dad and I spray painted the model of my invention. First, we took it outside and put it on some card-board. Then we took out the spray paint. My dad had bought some yesterday. First, I sprayed the seat of the chair, then the back-rest. You do know that to spray paint, all you do is to press on the top of the spray paint right? Anyways, next were the leg-rest and the arms. That was basically the whole chair. That was painted twice, gray and then black. The rest, (neck-pillow, box for things and the tray) were painted red twice. Finally, it was time for the hardest part of the making, to leave it to dry. (He-he)

Today I made the real thing. I mean the real, working chair. It was a long process. The rocking chair, we already had one. You need one to actually make the Gamers Comfy Chair. I started with the leg-rest. I took some card-board, cut it to make it look straight, and then curved the edges. (Also cut) I make it sound so simple but it took me a long, long time. After that I made the box for things. (While you’re playing if you have anything in your hands that you don’t need put it in there or if you need anything take it out.) Here my little brother Bevan helped me cut out the pieces but then left to play chess with my dad after wards. Following that was the drink-holder tray that was also made of card-board. I just cut a rectangle and folded it twice and cut a circle in one of the small rectangles formed by the fold lines. Now all I had to do was spray paint it and to stick it on. Here I took the individual pieces and sprayed the box red, the tray red and the leg-rest black. I would attach the pieces after they had dried. (In a day or two)

Today my dad and I stuck the tray with the drink-holder on. All we did was to stick some tape on and wound it around the chair hard. We would’ve done more but my family and I had to go to a dinner and when we got home it was really late.

This is the final day of building my invention. My dad and I stuck on the box first with strings. First, we drilled two holes at a side of the box. Then two more on the lower part of the side parallel to the first two and then another two about half an inch far from the other two. Then I attached two strings two strings over the first two holes that I pencil drilled. Next I attached one end of two more strings to the next two holes that I drilled and the other end two the last two holes. Lastly for the box we tied it on the rocking chair. After that we attached the neck pillow with two strings. One looped over the neck pillow and attached to a design and another one connecting to the last one. Then we took the other string and used it to tighten it up. This made the neck pillow able to move up and down. Lastly was the support for the leg-rest. Since it couldn’t stay upright on it’s own we made a support. It was just a few pieces of card-board shaped like a trapezoid held together by some tape. The support was as high as the leg-rest held upright. When we put it all together it looked great! Finally, the long hours spent on working and thinking and writing was finished. (Almost, at least)

Here I am, having lived 10 years. I, Byron, am the most fantastic inventor in the world! Through this you will learn a whole lot about me, the best of the best inventor. Here is my life so far…

I was born on November 29, 1998, on a Sunday, in the Philippines, Manila, in a hospital called St.Luke’s. My mom told me that she only took me to the Philippines to be born. A little after I was born we moved away to Abu-Dabi. After I was born in the Philippines, my family and I moved to Abu-Dabi for a about a year and then moved to Singapore. It was there were I spent my preschool life. I remember a birds’ nest right below our apartment. My mom and I used to feed them all the time.

About 1 1/2 years after we moved in to Singapore, my brother Bevan was born. Bevan spent his really early childhood in Singapore. A few years later, we moved to Shanghai, China. We found a nice apartment in Yanlord Garden and settled in. Soon, my little sister Bethany was born. So here we are now, all growing up.

When someone says video-games, I think of things like a game-cube, an X-Box, a PS2, things like that. I have been addicted to them for a long time. It started with the Game-Cube. Then next was the Game-Boy, followed by the PSP. Then the X-Box and the PS2 came together. All of those were gifts from my parents or from friends.

My passion for video games leads to my invention the Gamers Comfort Chair. You should now know the main things on my life and a bit about my family. My invention, I hope, you will find very interesting. My ten years of living and playing will brings success to my great invention! (Also my gaming!)

How it Works

First of all you have to sit down. You are sitting on a pillow that is strapped to your body so when you move, the pillow moves with you. If it’s summer, the ice pack will keep you cool and if it’s winter, the water heater will keep you nice and warm. The temperature change will only affect your lower body and a little of your upper.

The Problem it Solves

This will solve a lot of problems for long-night gamers. First of all, now you don’t have to get up and get something to drink. Now you have a straw right next to you and you can sip some of your favorite drink. You’ll also be more comfortable during your gaming time because you have a nice, soft arm rest, back rest and everything rest. This should also keep you cool or heat you up if needed. So I guess the main problem would be keeping gamers relaxed while playing.

Problems

Solutions

Can’t get up from the bed?

Two pieces of wood and shape it into an L. Then tie a string tight to one of the ends and stick the thing to the front of your bed.

Is your desk too messy?

Make two fold-able arms and attach them to your desk. Then when your desk needs cleaning, use them to grab everything and take them out of your desk. Then put everything in the way you want it with the arms.

Can’t make your bed?

Take two hooks and attach them to the end of your bed. Take strings and attach them to your blanket and through the hooks. Then take the other edge of the blanket and pull it straight.

Is your artwork too messy? (with ink)

Make a strap for your hand, (sort of like a glove) so that no ink will fall on your hands.

Are you too lazy to do things?

Get a rubber band and flick yourself. Hard. It Should wake you up.

Bathroom issues.

Carry a pot around. When you have to use the toilet, use the pot.

Are you slipping outside in the rain?

Put sandpaper or something hard on the bottom of your shoes so you don’t slip.

Do you ever feel bored at home?

Make a hoop and throw garbage in it. It’ll be a fun chore!

Tired of falling off your bike?

You could attach a strap to your bike that will hold you in place and it also should be portable.

Do you fell bored when you do your laundry?

You could make a hoop and throw your dirty clothes in.
