May 25th, 2009 by brenna01pd2016In my last post I talked about the lesson in tech class and there is a photo of the diagram that I made. We had to read some books that Mr.Power picked up from the library but they connected to the words that we were learning. The connections I found were discrimination because the blacks were not treated nicely and because of their race. Equality because they were not treated equaly. Freedom because they were slaves and they couldn’t do what they wanted to do. That’s all the connections I could find.

Transition Day
May 11th, 2009 by brenna01pd2016We just recently had transition day. I had so much fun! It was like being a sixth grade! We got to tore around the sixth grade! We went to each main class that you have to take which I think is called a chore class. The teachers for each chore class would tell you what you will do in that class text year. For art we did a creativity activity, Mrs.Thornberry gave us a piece of paper with 3 shapes on it and you had to think what you thought it was and add to it. For Drama we played a game that 5 people would go into the chars (I got to go up!) She would say something and you would have to act that out then freeze and you couldn’t laugh. Lastly we had P.E. that was really really fun! We played four way prisoners base it is like capture the flag but with 4 teams. I had a great time on transition day!!!!!!!!! :D

My Poem
May 5th, 2009 by brenna01pd2016In this quarter we are working on poetry. We got a poem by Shel Silverstein called Sick. Now we have to write are own Sick poem. His poem Sick has rhyming, so we have to have rhyming in are poem. He also has 8 syllables in every line, so we have to have 8 syllables in every line with rhyming words.
this is shel silverstein.
I have not finished my poem yet but here it is:
My pendix is going to burst
I think I have been badly cursed
My stomach is badly churning
Sadly I think I am burning
My back is covered with red bumps
Guess what I’m even getting lumps
My chest is burning up in flames
That is how far I got so far but I am going to finish.
Poetry Question and Answer
May 5th, 2009 by brenna01pd2016- What techniques did the writer use?
The technique the writer used in this poem was it rhymed and he made it it dramatic and funny and lastly instead of writing I felt sick and my body hurt he wrote it like this: My tongue is filling up my mouth!
- How many syllables in each line?
In this poem there are 8 syllables in every line but the 4th to last.
- Are there any metaphors this poem?
Yes. Like I was saying g in the question, what techniques he used. He didn’t just write it hurt I felt sick. he made metaphors and simillies.
- Why did he write this poem?
I think he wrote this because kids are always saying they are really sick and saying I can not go to school today, but on weekends they always want to go outside to play. So I think he just wanted to write a funny poem about that.
