More about voicethread…
We have been using voicethread quite a lot since discovering it at the Web 2.0 conference. Here are links to the Art 2 and IB1 recordings. They give fabulous insight into the thinking process and decision making that formed each artwork.
The Art 2 topic was Repetition. We looked at the work of artists Wayne Thiebaud, Lisa Milroy, Andy Warhol, Janet Fish, and Elizabeth Gower, to compare the different ways that repetition could be used in the work. Some was organised in a straight forward grid, but other compositions were more subtle, with similar types of objects, colours or shapes being repeated to create rhythm. There was no limitations given to the students other than the size of the canvas and the overall topic.
They are now displayed in the main office corridor, so if you can, drop past for a look.

IB1’s topic was a bit more complex- My home, my environment, my influences. We investigated the work of Do Ho Suh, Margaret Kilgallen and Barry McGee (seen on the Art 21 DVD series , which is a fantastic resource), with particular focus on how they use their immediate environment and personal experiences to inspire their work. The artists’ styles are quite different from one another, so there was a lot of scope for individuality in the students’ work. It is rirteally interesting to hear how differently each student used their source material.
