In school, our class started grouping together to work on our reading skills. We worked with people from our own level, and Macrina and Andy were in my level. We are reading a book called The Forgotten Door, and this book is about a boy named Jon who has fallen onto another world. We’re supposed to post-it about the characters, setting, plot, connections, and message. I think the message, so far, is that the best things in, life are free, because Jon values friendship and family more than his gold hair clip and dagger. He can read other people’s thoughts but he is very polite and he doesn’t want to. He uses this evidence to get himself out of court, and also into trouble.
I think book club helps a lot because you can share the parts you don’t understand with your group, and they might explain to you.m Mrs. Leishman has done a good job on organizing this group, and I like how she explains to us how we’re supposed to do it.
This is our group’s Three Gorges Dam Presentation. In my group, there were:
Ricky-Leader
Matthew-Quality Control Officer
Celina-Technology Consultant
Angela-Recording Officer
Joyce-Negotiations Officer
There were four groups:
The Engineers
The Environmentalists
The Government Officials
The Chinese Citizens (us)
I thought our video was okay, but there were a few points that needed help. For example, when we were switching places, we messed up a bit. We thought that the Three Gorges Dam, a huge dam built in China was bringing a negative effect to china because that the Chinese people needed to leave their homes. Our class was looking at the situation from four different perspectives. The environmentalists and us thought that the Three Gorges Dan brought a negative effect to China, but the engineers and the government officials thought the dam was positive because the dam helped other people. The environmentalists thought the dam was negative because the dam harmed many animals. We thought the dam was negative because the Chinese citizens needed to move.
At school, we have finally started to write some more entries, and I’ve started (or at least got out my plans) for a series called “The Elves and Me”. this series is about a girl called Luciana, who meets some elves (and a fairy) called Lucia, Clara, Callus, and Chimes, who have a good time together.
The first “book” is Lily Pond, and the second is called Feet vs. Hands, and both of them seem to have some characters, setting(s), plot, and definitely some vocabulary.
I’ve been trying to put some interesting facts in, too, but so far I haven’t really succeeded. I think the reason why is because this story is fiction, so I can’t add it in easily like in non-fiction.
I haven’t went to the expo, but I really want to visit the Saudi Arabia Pavilion, the Coca Cola Pavilion, and the Japan Industrial Pavilion because these seem really interesting. I myself think that the Saudi Pavilion seems like half of a pineapple, but at night, it seems like a glowing pineapple. I also like the Japan Industrial Pavilion because it seems like a huge structure made out of iron bars (which it basically is), and the Coca Cola Pavilion is in the shape of a coca cola bottle. I think they made this one because the coca cola company were helping them, but I’m not sure. I think the Coca Cola Pavilion will have some things that talk about coke.
I might add some more later on because I don’t have enough time, so !
